Our story starts in 2004
Since 2004, Cuscatlan Comida Salvadoreña has been serving the food of home — handmade pupusas, bold traditional dishes, and warm hospitality — right in downtown Escondido.
How we got started
In 2004, we opened our doors on Grand Ave with one mission: bring the real flavors of El Salvador to Escondido. Everything we cook comes from that same place — pride, tradition, and a love for feeding people well.
Food made the way it should be
We don't reinvent the classics — we honor them. From Mojarra Frita to Carne Guisada to sweet fried plantains, every dish is made fresh, every day, the way it's always been done.
The pupusa, our heart
Our pupusas are handmade, griddled thick, and packed with flavor — more than 15 varieties, from classic revueltas to the fan-favorite Pupusa Loca. Guests call them the best in North County.
